To draw a website on a screen, the browser needs a mathematical system to calculate exactly how much physical space every element takes up, and how far apart elements should be from each other. Even if you use CSS to make a button look like a perfect circle, the browser still mathematically treats it as a square box when calculating layouts. This Box Model consists of four distinct layers (from the inside out):

- Border: The physical wall of the box.
- Margin: The outer spacing (pushes other boxes away).

Mistake 1: Believing that circular elements are mathematically circles
The mistake: Creating a circular profile picture (border-radius: 50%) and wondering why it's pushing nearby text away in a square shape rather than letting the text wrap around the curves.
Why it's wrong: The Box Model is absolute. There is no such thing as a "Circle Model" or "Triangle Model" in standard CSS layout math. The browser always calculates the layout using the rectangular bounding box. The rounded corners are purely a visual trick (the paint job); the physical "hitbox" of the element remains a rectangle.
